How Much More Dose Car Insurance Costs For Teens Than Middle Aged People And Why?
The amount of greater cost depends on the insurance company, but it can easily be twice as much.
The reasons for car insurance rates has to do with three primary issues (based upon the same location, though location plays a big role all alone):
1. Age–people of different age groups are statistically more or less likely to have an accident
2. History–driving history affects rates because people who get speeding tickets or have accidents are more likely to have another
3. Vehicle–the cost of repairing a vehicle, and the cost of medical claims due to the safety of a vehicle, affect how much the insurance company will pay out on a claim
As to teens, better grades in school are a reflection of responsibility–straight A students get better insurance rates.
As to middle age drivers–they typically have more to lose from a moving violation or accident, so they typically have fewer accidents than teens.
Certainly these are only statistics. Many middle age drivers are worse than many teens, and that goes back to history. Those bad middle-aged drivers pay alot for insurance.
Don’t take it personally–insurance companies are always weighing the odds of an accident. The safer a driver you turn out to be will reflect in lower insurance rates once you establish a history of good driving. After three consecutive years of no moving violations or accidents, shop around for the best rates–you will be pleased at how they go down.
